Course Description:


This course is a study of general physics through experiments, lecture, and discussion.  The concepts of physics as well as problem solving will be the emphasis of this course.  Mathematics will be used extensively, including some Trigonometry. Topics will include Motion, Newtonian mechanics, Momentum, Energy, Simple Harmonic Motion, and Sound.

Prerequisite:  Algebra I and II, Geometry.

Requirements and Expectations


  1. For this class you will need:

    1. Physics Book

    2. 3 ring binder or notebook

    3. Scientific calculator (graphing calculator is helpful but not a requirement)

    4. Ruler with centimeters

    5. Protractor

    6. Pen or pencil


  1. Respect for each other, yourself, and the teacher.


  1. Homework for each chapter is due on the day of the test for that chapter.  Homework will be posted on my teacher page on the website.


  1. Arrive in class prepared and on time.  Coming to class unprepared or late will result in an office referral.


  1. Late assignments will not be accepted for full credit unless you have made prior arrangements.  Work that is turned in late will only receive ½ credit.  If you have a scheduled early release, turn in work that is due before you leave.


  1. For a one-day absence you will take the make-up test on the day you return to school.  For a longer absence, you have an extension equal to the number of school days missed to completer you work.  It is the student’s responsibility to ensure make-up work is completed..


  1. All handbook rules and policies apply in this classroom.  It is your responsibility to familiarize yourself with your student handbook.
