Prerequisite: PreAlgebra. Academic Algebra I follows PreAlgebra and precedes Academic Geometry in the academic, collegebound student’s mathematical career. This course is designed to provide highly motivated students with a deep, conceptual understanding of the following topics: elementary statistics (measures of central tendency, simple measures of dispersion, and graphical representations of univariate and bivariate data sets); proportional reasoning; variation (direct and inverse) and graphs; linear equations and functions; fitting a line to data (linear regression; and systems of linear equations and inequalities.
